It takes forty hours to complete this training and is broken up into thirty-two hours of material, and six hours of first aid and CPR training. You must have an appropriate first aid training certificate in order to get a TCN – training completion number. Once you have completed the security guard training, you would be given your TCN – training completion number which is used to book your examination with the ministry. 

In the second step, go on the website www.ontariosecuritytesting.com with your TCN – training completion number to book your test. The examination includes sixty MCQs that cover every section of your security guard training course. A minimum grade of sixty-two percent will help you pass the security guard license test. 

Ontario Security Guard Examination Details: 

1. COST - $66 

2. AFTER-TAX - $75

3. LOCATION – PRIVATE AT SELECT DRIVE TEST CENTERS OR ONLINE TAKEN BY INVIGILATORS TO AVOID CHEATING

4. TIME LIMIT – NINETY MINUTES

In the last step, apply for your Ontario security guard license. After you have passed the examination for security guard, you would be able to apply for your security guard license. To submit an application, you have to make one key account i.e. service Ontario account. To finish the application you would need a few things that include: 

A passport size image to be used as your security guard license picture

Two pieces of appropriate government issue ID

Signed form of guarantor

Consent to a criminal background check 

The price for your security guard license is eighty dollars and it would expire three birthdays from the date of issue. Before 2020, Ontario security guard licenses had to be renewed after every two years, but recently the laws have changed, and it has to be renewed after every three years. 

Once you have your application approved, you will get a digital license that you can print and keep with you unless yours arrives in the email.
